What is Hyvä

Hyvä is an alternative frontend for Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce. It replaces the entire stack based on Knockout.js, RequireJS and LESS with a modern one: Tailwind CSS and Alpine.js. The result is a theme with a few KB of JavaScript, clean CSS and zero heavy dependencies.

Why it's so fast

  • ~25 KB of JS shipped vs. hundreds of KB on Luma.
  • No RequireJS, no jQuery, no Knockout.
  • CSS generated with Tailwind: only the classes actually used.
  • Fewer HTTP requests, less layout shift, less main-thread time.

Hyvä Themes (frontend)

Hyvä Themes ships the base theme, a system of ready-to-use UI components and the compatibility module that lets third-party Luma modules work seamlessly.

Hyvä Checkout

Hyvä Checkout is a headless React-based checkout, fully decoupled from the Magento frontend. It talks to Magento via GraphQL and offers:

  • Smooth one-page experience, no reloads.
  • Native support for major payment providers (Stripe, Adyen, PayPal, Klarna…).
  • Mobile-first forms with real-time validation.
  • Full customisation through React components.

Core Web Vitals and SEO

Google rewards fast experiences. Hyvä helps concretely on all three Core Web Vitals:

  • LCP: hero and images render much earlier thanks to less blocking JS.
  • INP: the main thread stays free, interactions feel instant.
  • CLS: stable layout, no shifting blocks after load.

To stay in the green and avoid losing ranking, each metric must hit the "Good" threshold at the 75th percentile of real traffic (CrUX).

  • 90–100 (green): the Hyvä zone. Instant interactions, hero in <1.5s on mobile 4G.

Every 100ms of checkout latency costs up to 7% in conversion (source: Akamai/Deloitte). The 3 seconds you shave off a red LCP are the highest-ROI investment on Magento 2.
